Stores are open weekdays 9-6. Some grocery stores open at 6 AM. Western-operated supermarkets are open much longer hours and on weekends; some larger supermarkets never close. Department stores often stay open until 7 PM. Outside Prague, most stores close for the weekend at noon on Saturday, although you can usually find a grocery open nights and weekends.

3 Easy steps to claiming your refund
As a foreign visitor you are entitled to claim back the tax you pay on your purchases, if you take them home. The VAT rate in our country is 19% (15,7% of the purchase price). Your total purchases (VAT included) must exceed ses 2.000 CZK in one shop in one day. Your Global Refund Cheque must be validated by Customs at departure within 3 months plus month of purchase and will be refunded with 5 months form the date of purchase.
After deduction of the handling expenses, you will receive a refund of up to 14% of the purchase price.
1. In the Store
Shop where you see the Global Refund Tax Free Shopping sign and simply ask for your refund Cheque.
2. Trough Customs
When leaving the EU, show your purchase, original receipts and passport to the EU customs officials and have your Global Refund Cheques stamped.
3. Collect your refund
You have several choices: Cash at a nearby Global Refund Office, Cash refund when you return home, Direct crediting of a chosen credit card or bank account (please state your credit card/bank details), Bank cheque sent to a chosen address
