This is a veritable Mecca for visitors to Prague and it�s not difficult to see why. It has all the essential features of a traditional Czech pub. �Over the years we�ve had guests from every conceivable corner of the world. Our menu alone is available in 16 different languages,� beams the owner as the brass band plays. He goes from table to table welcoming the guests and chatting to them. �Where are you from? France? Ah yes, well we had Lionel Jospin and Jacques Chirac here a few months ago. Their photo is up there on the wall.� The main dining space seats several hundred guests and was refurbished some time in the 30�s, although a restaurant has stood on this spot for over a 100 years. The walls are covered with large cartoon depictions of the literary character Good Soldier �vejk and quotes from Jaroslav Ha�ek�s book. Visitors have obliged with their own comments and signitures. The menu offers generous portions of no-nonsense traditional Czech food washed down with one-litre glasses of local beer. �If you�re really hungry, nothing beats the roast duck with dumplings.�
